The International Smart City Development and Planning Forum was held at Feng Chia University this year. Bringing together the brightest minds across industries to discuss smart cities.

As part of the opening ceremony, German astronomer Wing-Huen Ip (葉永烜) Institute of Astronomy and Hon Hai Research Institute CEO Wei-Bin Lee addressed the current developments in smart cities and AI security.

Wide-ranging topics include smart agriculture, urbanization, groundwater management, green biohythane technology, transportation ecosystem, road maintenance management, laws and regulations… and more. Joining the department of Water Resources Engineering and Conservation, Land Management, Civil Engineering, Transportation and Logistics and lastly, Urban Planning and Spatial Information. 

“Taiwan-Vietnam Disaster Prevention Cooperation Workshop” is a cross-border workshop that focuses on the monitoring of resources (water, mineral), hazard mitigation, and UAV inspection application. Together with Vietnam National University, Feng Chia University, Focus Intelligent Company, WeatherPlus Company, Taiwan Soil and Water Conservation Bureau, Vietnam Institute of Geosciences and Mineral Resources, and Taichung City Government, the representatives shared and discussed the recent hazard response strategies and case studies.

A special presentation was given by Global Digital MOJO CEO Dr David Williams on specific applications of XR technologies used in disaster management and different stages of hazard scenarios. A thorough understanding of MOJO’s R3 Disaster Management Platform, which was presented at the National Land Surveying and Mapping Center’s “3D Innovative Application for GIS Spatial Information Contest 2021” conference in Oct 2021.

Providing the audience with insights into future possibilities and the new era of urban planning which potentially enables more advanced management of the city and live-data dashboard analysis/predicting/responding in real time.
